MANILA, Philippines - A pastor of a local religious sect in Negros Occidental province is facing charges of rape for allegedly raping his three daughters.

Radio dzBB on Friday reported that Robert Caballero, 45, of Canlamay village in Ilog town, is now in police custody after his daughters lodged a complaint against him.

Earlier, online news site Visayan Daily Star reported that Ilog town police Chief Sr. Insp. Gabriel Gutierrez said Caballero, a pastor of the religious sect "Bagong Simbahan Apostolico," was turned over to their custody after the scandal broke out Monday.

Gutierrez said the eldest of the three daughters, now 22 years old, was molested on Nov. 3, 1993, when she was only eight years old.

The two other daughters, 18 and 14 years old, were molested on April 8 and 17 last year respectively.

The pastor volunteered to stay at the Ilog Police Station, pending the filing of rape charges against him, for fear of being harmed by members of the family of his wife.

He denied having molested his daughters.

Investigation showed the 18-year-old, who was allegedly molested twice, left their home as she could not endure the way her farther treated her.

Gutierrez said medical examinations on the three victims showed signs that they had been molested.
